Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I have the correct version of a manual or addendum?

When new or updated exam preparation manuals are published, the target exam and, if applicable, a date are indicated. This date tells you whether you should refer to this manual for an exam before or after a given date. Newly published addenda are available on the home page of the AMF website. You can also search for addenda by manual. All available addenda will be displayed. Make sure that you check the date carefully to ensure that you have the latest version. In addition, information will be posted on the AMF home page when a new manual or addendum is published

Can I reproduce (photocopy) or modify AMF manuals?

AMF exam preparation manuals are protected by the Copyright Act and cannot be reproduced or used in any form or by any mechanical or electronic means, including photocopying. They are available only by purchase. Anyone who reproduces these manuals contravenes the Copyright Act and is liable to prosecution and to the penalties set out in the Act. Candidates who bring photocopies of AMF manuals to the examination sessions will be asked to leave. They will be given a grade of “0” and their manuals will be confiscated. In addition, manuals must not be altered in any way. For example, if the binding of a manual is cut and the pages removed and inserted into a ring binder, the manual will be considered to have been altered. It goes without saying that altered manuals may not be brought into the examination room.

Where can I consult the exam preparation manuals?

For each manual, the complete table of contents in PDF is posted on the AMF website under Manuals.

However, to consult a complete manual, you can:

  • Consult the manuals at the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales (Grande Bibliothèque) in Montréal;
  • Consult the manuals at the National Assembly library in Québec City.

How can I find out if new exam preparation manuals will be published soon?

Sign up for E-mail Info of the AMF and choose " The publication Les Nouvelles de la Direction de la formation et de la qualification " in the listing of the type of information you wish to receive.

What can I do if information in a manual appears to be incorrect?

AMF manuals are prepared according to a rigorous process involving numerous experts. Despite our vigilance, however, errors can occur.

We give careful consideration to all comments we receive. If you think one of our manuals contains an error, we will conduct the necessary verifications. You must send precise details about the pages and manuals concerned to the following address: qualification@lautorite.qc.ca.

If a manual is found to contain an error, the individual who brought the matter to the AMF’s attention will be notified. The persons in charge of the examinations will also be notified so that candidates are not disadvantaged.

How can I submit a comment about the manuals?

The best way is to send an e-mail to qualification@lautorite.qc.ca.

You can also use the comments sheet found in the manuals.

What is an addendum used for?

An addendum is a note that corrects an error or updates the material covered in a manual. To prepare well for the exam, candidates must check whether there are any addenda for the manual they are studying. If so, it is important to download them since the exam questions are modified according to the corrections made. Make sure you always have the latest version by regularly checking for updates.

Before taking an exam, it is also strongly recommended that you check whether any new addenda have been released.

How can I find out when my order will be delivered and how can I track it?
